‘Tis the season! The season during which many companies accumulate a large portion of their financial activity and also the season during which many individuals accumulate the better part of their spiritual activity. Every year, it seems, we hear increased outrage over the ways that commercial interests have increasingly been competing with spiritual interests during the holidays.
Sir John actually saw a close kinship between spiritual and economic matters, and he gave careful thought to the ways in which one ought to be influenced by the other. In fact, in 1993 he gave a very insightful and inspiring speech on this matter at Buena Vista College (now University). As thoughts of sugar plums, quarterly earnings, and silent nights in Bethlehem dance in our heads, we will excerpt some of the best gems from that speech here on WWJTS.
Excerpt from “The Religious Foundation of Liberty and Enterprise”
