We continue our exploration of John Templeton’s twenty-one steps detailed in The Templeton Plan by reviewing Step 7: Investing Yourself in Your Work. Now that summer is over and we begin to refocus on putting in a good day’s work, Templeton’s advice about work and how to be successful may come in handy.
John Templeton concludes his advice on investing yourself in your work with these tips:
- An idea is only an idea until you subject it to hard work.
- Search for ways to turn problems into opportunities.
- Work as if your life were in peril.
- Carry your own library with you.
- Think two thoughts at once.
- Always go for the brass ring.
- Defer pleasure until the job is done.
- Build a reputation for delivering what you promised and, if possible, even more.
